Getting started

Hi there, I'm Aaliyah (daughter of Reggie and Gwen Singleton) and welcome to my blog.

I was recently interviewed and have been accepted to participate as a Student Ambassador for the People to People program to Europe this summer. People to People is an esteemed program that promotes international understanding while building leadership skills among America's youth. My delegation will be traveling to Greece, Austria, Italy, and Germany. Over the course of the 23-day experience, we are expected to visit places such as Venice, the Colosseum, Pompeii, Santorini, Athens, and the Dachua concentration camp. Prior delegates have shared how the trip made such an impact on their lives. I am honored to have been selected and am so looking forward to the experience.

Our first delegation meeting will be scheduled soon. We will be researching and learning about all the places that we plan to visit. Did I mention, that while I'm researching and learning all of this new stuff, I will also be earning high school and college credits too! This whole experience is sure to be absolutely amazing and without a doubt so much fun.

In the meantime, I will also be fundraising to cover part of the $8,600 tuition, which includes room and board, meals, educational activities, and other travel-related costs. I realize how blessed I have been to have so many supportive people in my life to help me along the way. Needless to say, I will need your prayers and financial support in this effort, now more than ever. Business owners please know that your sponsorship will include the opportunity to post your corporate logo to my blog with a link to your home page.

This blog will be dedicated to my trip to include everything leading up to, during (if time permits), and will absolutely include the posting of journals, photos, and experiences afterwards. I'm posting everything and hope to hear from you. I look forward to hearing about your European travel experiences and suggestions as well. So check back frequently, as we embark on this new and invaluable experience together!

God Bless,

Aaliyah Singleton :)

  1. Aaliyah,

Congratulations on being appointed as Student Ambassador for the People to People Europe program! What an honor!

My wife Kim and I would be more than happy to contribute to your goal (although I must admit that I am a bit jealous that I have yet to experience the thrills of traveling in Europe, after 54 years of trying!).

We have not met but I know your mother very well from working with her at Red Cross. If you are anything like her, you must be intelligent, intuitive and dedicated - all qualities which will serve you well in life as well as achieving additional honors in the future.

Best of luck to you Aaliyah. We look forward to hearing from you on your blog and will be praying God keeps his angels around you as you travel.

PS: Don't forget to text or email Mom and Dad once in a while as you jet-set across the globe!

    Warmest regards,

    John and Kim Dudley

  2. Aaliyah, We have not me either, but I am a good friend of your Uncle Andre Stevenson.

Andre often shares information about your varied accomplishments with me. I am excited to hear about you being selected for the People to People Ambassador program, and your upcoming European Adventure, what a great opportunity. I hope to read about your experience when you return on your blog.

May God continue to bless you, as you continue to be a fabulous young lady, sister, daughter, and world citizen. Shelly Casey.
